Chief Executive Officer
Hello everyone! I have met some of you already, but for those whom I have not met, my name is Luisa Cordova and it is my privilege to welcome you on board Golden Galapagos Cruises.
I’d like to talk to you a little bit about our philosophy here at Golden Galapagos. For us, safety is, of course, our number one priority, followed by the preservation of the beautiful islands that we love so much. A close third, however, is customer satisfaction. We learn from our clients themselves, from the feedback that they give us. Even negative feedback is welcome if it helps us do our jobs better in the future. We love hearing from our guests, not because the island tour industry is very demanding and more competitive every day – although it certainly is – but because we are Ecuadorian, and being Ecuadorian means a great love of hospitality.
Don Juan, the famous Spanish lover, once said: “there is more than one road to a woman’s heart.” He was right! And there is more than one way to earn the trust and respect of our guests. We’ve been in business long enough to know that the best way is the old-school way: hard work, sacrifice and never settling for second-best. We could hire guides that are not very knowledgeable. We could hire crew members who are not very attentive. We could purchase cheap blankets and mattresses for the suites. We could say, “well, we washed the exterior suite windows last week, it can wait another day or two before we wash them again.” But that’s not the Golden Galapagos way, and everyone that works on this ship understands that. The other ships use the same airports we do and go to the same visitor sites: we’ll never rise above them because we take our guests to see better tortoises than they do. But we can beat them in customer service, and we do.
So far, you’ve just heard a lot of words, right? I know, blah, blah, blah. But we mean them. Take me, for example. I’ve been here in Galapagos for twenty years, doing the same thing you see me doing now.
