Galapagos Islands Travel Guide
The Galapagos Cruise Experience on the Endemic & Elite
Chartering a Galapagos Cruise
If you’re traveling in a group to the Galapagos Islands, consider chartering a cruise. When you charter a Galapagos cruise, you reserve the yacht exclusively for your group, which has several distinct advantages.
Responsible Travel in the Galapagos: Our Pledge
One of the reasons the Galapagos Islands has remained one of the most pristine natural environments in the world despite welcoming over 200,000 visitors every year is because of the commitment we make as tour operators to provide the most responsible tours to Galapagos visitors.
Galapagos Documents and Fees: Transit Control Card & National Park Entrance Fee
Make sure you have $120 cash per person ready to go when you depart for the Galapagos Islands – that’s what you will need to pay the $20 Transit Control Card fee at your departing airport in Ecuador and the $100 National Park Entrance fee at the arrival airport in the Galapagos. This must be paid in cash; credit cards or travelers checks are not accepted.
Endemic Species in the Galapagos
The Galapagos Islands are known as the inspiration for Charles Darwin’s theories of evolution and natural selection, and the reason is the abundant, unique, and rich wildlife that can be found here. Life has existed virtually unaltered on these islands for millions of years, since the tips of volcanoes first broke the surface of the Pacific Ocean.
Getting to the Galapagos Islands – Flights & Transportation
Unlike the explorers of yesteryear who arrived to the Galapagos Islands in boats, nowadays the only way for visitors to get to the Galapagos Islands is by plane, and the only flights to the Galapagos Islands are domestic from the mainland Ecuadorian cities of Quito (UIO) and Guayaquil (GYE).
Before You Go to Ecuador & the Galapagos
The months and weeks before a vacation can be an exciting but nerve-wracking time, but Galapagos vacations shouldn’t be a stressful experience. Having a pre-trip plan can keep your vacation on the right track and maximize the excitement with minimal stress.

Golden Galapagos Cruises and Volunteers Unite to Keep Galapagos Beaches Clean
On September 30, 2017, close to 900 visitors and locals took to the beaches of the Galapagos Islands to clean up the sites which host unique endemic marine life and bring in close to 200,000 tourists every year. As part of the “Action for the Planet” initiative on behalf of Ecuador’s Ministry of the Environment, 876 volunteers collected and sorted garbage at 46 visitor sites along 74 miles of Galapagos coastlines.
How to fly to the Galapagos Islands
Although explorers, pirates, whalers, and even Charles Darwin himself arrived to the Galapagos Islands by boat for centuries, now the only way for travelers to get there is flying – first to mainland Ecuador and then on to the Galapagos Islands.
