DAY 1
Our visit begins in the Las Peñas neighborhood, founded 400 years ago by the Spaniards. This area boasts the last remaining colonial buildings in the city, once home to wealthy families. Its narrow cobblestone streets and prime location along the Guayas River offer stunning views and rich local character.
Next, we head to the Historical Park, a restored section of Old Guayaquil, featuring several buildings that highlight the city’s past. In the 19th century, Ecuador was a major cacao exporter, making Guayaquil one of the wealthiest cities in the region. The park’s staff, dressed in traditional attire from that era, will transport you back 100 years, to when cacao was integral to daily life. The park also features a 4-acre wildlife reserve.
Lunch is included at Casa Julian, a restaurant housed in a restored 19th-century building near the Daule River. The menu, inspired by Guayaquil’s traditional cuisine, blends fresh seafood with tropical flavors like avocado, coconut, and the world-renowned cacao.
