GALAPAGOS ISLANDS COVID-19 TRAVEL INFO
How to Stay Safe
Learn about the COVID-19 protocols that Golden Galapagos Cruises
has adapted since the crisis.
Onboard, the M/C Endemic and the M/C Elite, our Operations Manager, Cruise Director, Captain, and the consultancy of an expert Epidemiologist who formerly worked with the World Health Organization worked together to write and implement our “Health and Safety Protocols”. Our main objective has shifted to prevent the risk of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic. Among the maritime community, land staff, commercial crew, and tourists it is crucial for us to follow local policies and set more strict company measures in order to prevent infection at all possible touchpoints.
SMALL YACHTS WITH A MAXIMUM CAPACITY OF 16 PASSENGERS
Our proudly selected boats; the M/C Endemic and the M/C Elite are luxury private catamarans with a maximum capacity of 16 guests onboard. Simply, smaller group size means smaller risk.
MAXIMUM GROUP NUMBER FOR HIKES AND OUTINGS IS 10 PASSENGERS
The M/C Endemic and the M/C Elite will handle groups of up to 10 guests per guide in order to comply with social distancing rules. This means that if we have 16 passengers onboard (maximum capacity), we’ll have two guides aboard who will manage groups of a maximum of 10 people each.
We encourage to book private charters with your traveling group or family in order to manage the concept of “social distancing” with ease since we offer them multiple private (suites) and social areas to relax in and have a good time.
OUR CREW’S SAFETY PROTOCOLS AND TRAINING
Our naturalist guides and crew members go through periodic COVID PCR tests in order to ensure the safety of everyone traveling around the Galapagos. They will also stay up to date on a daily basis with COVID-19 safety standards and do their best to keep everyone on board safe.
INDEPENDENT AIR CONDITIONING FOR EACH CABIN
The M/C Endemic and the M/C Elite have independent air conditioning systems for each suite and social area with independent inflow and outflow of air. This exclusive marine system allows us to offer constant circulation of clean air to our guests and take “social distancing” to a new level. As we know, there is a slight chance that the virus can be transmitted through the air and having independent air conditioning can lower the risk of infection.
LARGE SUITES WITH A PRIVATE BALCONY AND WALL-TO-WALL, FLOOR-TO-CEILING PANORAMIC SLIDING DOORS
The M/C Endemic has suites measuring 32 mt2 (344 ft2) on average while the M/C Elite has suites ranging from 35 mt2 (377 ft2) to 37 mt2 (398 ft2). We don’t only have large suites onboard, but each suite, in addition to being equipped with its own independent marine air conditioning system, has a panoramic design with wall-sized sliding glass doors that lead out to the balcony, giving our guests the option of having fresh air flowing softly through their room.
WHY GALAPAGOS IS A SAFE DESTINATION?
As a part of the territory of the Galapagos Islands, a World Heritage Site, access is limited and regulated by the policies of the Galapagos National Park and the UNESCO.
Galapagos is not a destination for large crowds, but rather an exclusive destination with specific visitor points and regulated itineraries to avoid an overload of visitors during hikes.
There is no question that it is an enormous advantage to be able to visit an amazing place where you and your companions will feel like the only ones there, while experiencing the unique wildlife that the islands have to offer. Now more than ever, our competitive advantage as a destination becomes a significant reason to visit, once we are able to travel again and make our dreams come true.
WE ARE READY TO WELCOME YOU!
Golden Galapagos Cruises implemented the WTTC Global Protocols to get the “Safe Travels” stamp certification. Through these protocols, we work together to rebuild trust and confidence in the traveler.
WTTC (World Travel & Tourism Council) alongside its members, governments, health experts and other industry associations are working together to achieve effective recovery protocols by developing meaningful action plans that optimize sector-wide recovery efforts. Part of these protocols include providing the public & private sectors with the insights & toolkits for interaction & implementation to ensure that people are and feel safe. The protocols align the private sector behind common standards to ensure the safety of its workforce and travelers as the sector shifts to a new normal.
